OK Hotel

Project details

Originally built in 1915 and located in the Pioneer Square Historic District, this partially vacant historic hotel suffered moderate damage during the 2001 Nisqually earthquake and was red-tagged.

Clark Design Group provided design services for the renovation and rehabilitation, including damage repair, seismic and life safety upgrades and a change of use for the entire building. Two-hundred hotel rooms on the upper floors were converted into 44 units of affordable housing. The ground floor and basement contain artist studios, a lobby and retail space.

Special care was given to preserve the building’s historic character in conformance to the Secretary of Interiors’ Standards. The original facade, wood windows and many of the interior features were restored.
